Parent Responsibilities
RE Program Registration
It is a policy of BUUF that all children and youth attending BUUF at least
three times during the program year or any BUUF-related programs such as
Our Whole Lives (OWL) and Coming of Age be registered with the RE program.
Registration forms are located on the kiosk on the north vestibule, from the
DRE or as a PDF from the "Related Links" to the left. As part of registration
with the RE program (mandatory after three visits), parents/guardians are
required to assist the RE program by volunteering in the classrooms on a
rotating basis, and assisting with RE and classroom events.
The registration form has a list of needed tasks for the program year.
Involvement
The RE program is a cooperative venture. The expectation is that, if
you have a child or youth in the program, you will volunteer time. All
parents/guardians must sign up to help in their child' or youth's class
to be a Parent Helper (the only exception would be those already
volunteering as co-guides). Parent helpers sign up to assist the
classroom guides on Sunday mornings. Bulletin boards outside each
classroom have sign-up sheets. Members of the RE committee will be
calling families to fill classroom parent help needs that are not met
with the sign up Parent helpers free guides to offer the highest quality
programming possible within an environment that is continually changing
with new people attending every Sunday. But just as important, by
participating you can become better acquainted with classmates and other
parents. Strong and lasting connections can be made with you involve
yourself in the RE program.
Periodically throughout the year, the RE committee will make a plea for
healthy snacks that can be stored in each classroom. We discourage
foods that have peanuts and/or peanut butter in them due to the rising
number of children with food allergies. Families can make special
arrangements with the classroom teacher to bring special snack for
birthday or other celebrations. Please be sure to make arrangements in
advance.
Attendance
Please bring your child(ren) regularly! An important part of the religious
development of your young people is the experience of being together in the
fellowship community. A child who attends regularly not only gets more out
of the curriculum, but also feels more connected to classmates and the
fellowship community. Parents who possess an attitude of cheerful
expectancy about weekly church attendance will have fewer difficulties with
their children's involvement each Sunday. We hope that your family will
make fellowship attendance a priority in your lives.
