Call to 2008 General Membership Meeting
Article IV, Section 1 of the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship By-Laws mandates that the Annual General Meeting shall be on the third Sunday of May. This year, that is Sunday, May 18, and the meeting will be at 11:30 a.m., in the Sanctuary, following the single, 10:00 service. The meeting will adhere to Roberts Rules of Order, and a Parliamentarian will be appointed by the Board prior to the meeting.
This meeting will receive BUUF's annual report (in printed form for distribution), elect members of the Board of Directors (President, Vice-President and two directors), elect replacements on the Nominating Committee for those whose terms have expired, consider approving several proposed changes in the By-Laws and other items needing member approval. (See Related Links at left.)
The Nominating Committee, a body independent of the Board, has submitted a list of candidates for the vacancies on the Board and for the Nominating Committee. Article V, Section 5(b) declares that candidates willing to serve may be nominated by a petition signed by five or more members and presented to the Board at least ten days before the annual meeting. All such petitions should be submitted by May 8 to Elton Hall, Board Secretary, or Emmie Schlobohm, Board President.
Friends of BUUF who are not members are welcome to attend the annual meeting, but only members may vote. A quorum for action at this meeting is 20% of the membership, and approval of any changes in the By-Laws requires a 2/3 majority of those members present and voting. A simple majority vote is required to elect candidates to positions on the Board.
The Board urges you to attend and participate in this democratic process. Your presence makes sure your voice is heard in making important decisions that affect the future of BUUF.
Please review the By-Law changes. A full list of candidates will be announced after the May 8 closing of nominations. If you have any questions, please contact Emmie Schlobohm at 343-3662 or or Elton Hall at 323-1618 or .
Looking forward to seeing you on May 18,
Emmie Schlobohm, President
Elton Hall, Secretary
