The good people of BUUF have worked hard to attain certification with
the UUA and other organizations for issues that are important to us.
We are proud of being a
“Fair Share” /
“Honor” Congregation for over 20 years. We have participated
actively in the UUA
Standing on the Side of
Love program. We received
our UUA Green
Sanctuary Accreditation in 2009 after working actively with our
local Habitat for Humanity to build their first “green” house. Habitat
for Humanity regularly receives a share of our Sunday plate offering. We
have operational procedures in place to reduce waste and maximize
recycling and many BUUF members are actively involved in educating
others and working to minimize the negative impacts of climate
change.

BUUF became a
Welcoming
Congregation in 2006. BUUF members and
ministers have been visible advocates for the LGBT community, including
participating in annual PRIDE events and in civil disobedience efforts
this past Spring focused on adding the LGBT community to the Idaho Human
Rights Act to ensure employment and housing protections.
BUUF is a signatory organization to The Charter for Compassion. The Charter is a cooperative effort to restore not only compassionate thinking but, more importantly, compassionate action to the center of religious, moral and political life. Compassion is the principled determination to put ourselves in the shoes of the other, and lies at the heart of all religious and ethical systems.
